Housing Rights for Families with Special Needs Children

The next GSPT webinar on Housing Rights for Families with Special Needs Children is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21  from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm PDT with guest speaker Celia McGuinness, a seasoned disability rights trial lawyer.  Many parents who advocate for their children’s rights in school and with Regional Centers do not know their children have rights to fair housing as well.  Here, we discuss federal and state protections against disability discrimination in the home, such as rights to reasonable accommodation; alteration, repair and maintenance of accessible property features; and assistance animals.   We offer concrete methods for getting the alterations and accommodations your child needs to be safe and comfortable at home.
